Soft Drinks

Soft drinks were Jon Greville on drums and Drooper on vocals from the Magits, plus Lee Grivelle on synthesizer duties who I am assuming is related to Jon. They had a very interesting sound that sounded like Rudimentary Peni and The Magits put together(Drooper was the vocalist for the Magits and Jon is the drummer for Rudimentary Peni). Their one and only record is titled 'Pop Stars in their Pyjamas' and was released on Nick Blinko's Outer Himalayan Records label(Nick also drew the cover). I decided to make a post about this band because of their close ties to The Magits and Rudimentary Peni. After the band ceased to be, Drooper and Lee disappeared, but Jon went on to continue playing drums for Rudimentary Peni.

The Magits

Around 1977, four school friends decided to become a part of the 'anti-fashion' and 'individual' punk movement that was starting to bloom(even though they already saw it as getting 'killed' during 1978 by the media) by starting a band called Magit Turds. The band included Martin 'Drooper' Cooper on vocals, Alex Hawkes, Jon Greville and Nicholas John Blinko on synthesizers and artwork. The band would later change their name to simply The Magits. Rehearsals were held at Jon's parents' place, but the band used really weird instruments instead of guitars, bass and drums. Unfortunately, Jon  Greville left the band, which led to most of the music being made by Martin and Nicholas, and rarely ever by Alex.

In 1979, the band released their one and only record titled the 'Fully Coherent' E.P, released on Nicholas' own label called Outer Himalayan Records, which featured four really short, really bizarre songs picked from several others from two different recording studios about human life such as how we waste it by working our tiring jobs, and how we try to escape reality to get it off our minds. The band members actually don't remember if they ever played a gig, but they were supposed to play a gig with Adam and The Ants which never materialized, and a second single was recorded the following year called 'A Pawn in the Game' with Alex helping out this time, but it was never released  for unknown reasons and Alex left afterwards. Nicholas went on to briefly play in the S-Haters, and Jon joined the Soft drinks for a only a short while. Now, what is something hardly anyone knows about this band? Sometime during the beginning of 1980, the remaining members Jon Greville and Nicholas(now known as Nick Blinko) joined together again and formed Rudimentary Peni.

The Legion of Parasites

The Legion of Parasites were one of the more thrashier sounding 'Anarcho' bands from the Village of Pavenham, Bedforshire. Some of the members had already been in bands since 1978, but the Legion of Parasites began in 1981 with Cian Houchin(when he was 16) on guitar, Sean Houchin(when he was 17) on vocals and Simon 'Wag' Wagstaff(when he was 14) on drums(he burrowed his sister's drum set). Early influences included the U.K. Subs, Dead Kennedys, Buzzcocks, The Sex Pistols and Sham 69. To practice, they used a shed which was located in Wag's garden. After nine months, they were joined on bass by Scott Hick(age 15).

The band wrote their early lyrics about the issues they felt strongly about. However, The quickly realized that the first wave of punk was beginning to sell out, and that the big business men had all these punks on strings for their own profit. This is when the reaction to that came to their attention. Sean managed to get a hold of a copy of Crass's album 'Feeding of the Five Thousand' and once he heard it, he used to just play it over and over again, even though his parents hated the record and wanted him to throw it away due to it's lyrical content. In addition, a couple of America bands such as Bad Brains, Flipper and Black Flag also began to influence them.

Crass's 'Stations of the Crass' album influenced them the most, and helped spark their political side. The inspiration encouraged the band to record their first seven song demo called 'Another Disaster'(the band picked that name because they felt that is how it began for them) in 1982 which was recorded at Luton's Hero Studios. The cover contained the Argentinean destroyer Belgrano getting destroyed by a British submarine. A second, five song demo was recorded during the Autumn of that same year at Rocksnake Studios, in Rushden, North Beds. Less than a hundred cassettes were made, and sold at gigs.

Once Spring came during 1983, the four were joined on guitar by Steve 'Gibbo' Gibbs. Afterwards, two tracks from their second demo titled 'Dying World' and 'Death Watch' were taken with consent for the 1983 compilation record titled 'Gonads Here's the Testicles' on Pax Records. Unfortunately, their second guitarist 'Gibbo' left during the Spring of 1984 to take a different musical direction.

The band continued to distribute their demo out to wider audiences, which led to the tracks 'Death Watch' and 'Promises' appearing in the American compilation 'Compulsory Overtime' on Diesen Records and 'Dying World' alongside 'Boredom' appearing on the 'Empty Skulls Volume Two' compilation record for Fartblossom Records. Next, the band met Digby Pearson(founder of Earache Records) who wrote a bit for them in a Maximum Rock & Roll magazine, and organized gigs at Nottingham's Coalville Social Club, where the band played with Antisect and Mau Maus.

Following the gigs with Antisect, the band decided to record another demo, and the gigs just seemed to pour in. After a show supporting Conflict, Colin Jerwood(Conflict's lead singer) suggested that the band should release an E.P. on the 'just finished' Fight Back label. The band returned to Rocksnake and recorded six tracks that would become the 1984 'Undesirable Guests' 12". However, their founding bassist Scott left after this release, this forced their vocalist Cian to sing and play bass for the band. They were down to a three-piece, but Cian was good enough to cover both tasks, so they followed by recording the song 'Sea of Desecration' for the 'We don't want your Fucking War!' compilation on Fight Back Records, including other bands such as Toxic Waste, Subhumans, Anthrax(U.K. Anthrax, not the metal one), Decadent Few, Stalag 17, Lost Cherrees, Admit your Shit, Instigators and Liberty.

In the Spring of 1985, the band entered the sixteen-track Thatched Cottage studio in Thurleigh to record all the material for their debut album. However, they had no money to pay for it, so they started their own label called Thrash Records and used it right away released their 'The Prison of Life' album. More gigs followed, such as gigs with Amebix, more with Antisect, Subhumans, Concrete Sox, Metal Duck and Chumbawamba. there was also a tour in the Netherlands during 1986, organized by Tony from Dutch punks B.G.K. and another Dutch punk band named God. The band began writing fanzines, and played most of their gigs as benefits for worthy causes such as arrest funds, hunt saboteurs, and anti-vivisection organizations.

The Legion of Parasites were now at the their best, but the changing scene and drug infested audiences caused the band to question themselves if they should really continue to go on. This led to their demise after their last gig, where the members realized that their drive to keep going on had just about run out. They also noticed that the people around them were beginning to take more interest in the techno and rave scenes, so after the split, Sean and Wag went on to form a dub reggae band called Franticise(they felt that the reggae scene had become more threatening than the punk scene by that time) and Cian joined Stevenage's goth rock band The Nehpilim, followed by another band called 'Saints of Eden'. Wag ended up in another punk related band called 'Sick on the Bus' until he left in 2004 due to family increasing family commitments. Sean eventually dove into the 'drums 'n' bass' scene, and used it to express his anger just as he did before in the Legion of Parasites.

Several more demos and albums were recorded after their first album, such as their lost 'Dawn to Dust' album, but the band never really seemed to be interested in talking about them, and probably sees them as crap.

"Massacre"

Throughout this land of hope and glory
Apathy rules the state - it's the same old story
It begins to unfold with lies and greed
Which brings the country down to its knees
Cruise missiles we are told are to secure the peace

and keep away the forces down to the east
But do we really need all this pretence
To keep the dogs of war behind the fence?

To strive for peace is considered red
But would you rather strive for peace or end up dead?
How many times have you been told
"We must smash this Government's bloody hold"
Unless we think of a way that is sane
It will end up being us that suffers the pain

Pain of war, pain of death, radiation or hunger, or the initial blast?

Liberty

Libert live in 1985.
Liberty was known for being one of the more politically militant bands, coming from the Mortarhate label alongside their close friends Conflict, Exit-Stance and Admit Your Shit. The band was formed in 1980 In North Kent with Mark Wallis on vocals, Graham Clench on bass and Derek Banks on drums. Kalibir Bains became their first guitarist, but he was replaced by Alan and then he was replaced by Terry. They also had a female vocalist named Lisa Dillon, but she soon left because of her musical and personal differences with the others. The played their first gig at the Dartford YMCA and where joined on guitar by Mich Harrington from Admit Your Shit in 1984 after Terry left.

Practicing took place every Tuesday night at a church hall near Derek's house, and it was pain for several members who had to carry their equipment on trains to get to rehearsals. They quickly entered the DTS studios of Chatham and recorded a demo tape, and even had a live track called 'As Fools Rush in' included in a compilation tape called 'Communicate' in 1985 on TPSY Records. Next, the band joined the Greenwich Musicians Co-operative, and were joined by a poet called Pete Dog, a flute player and a saxophone player from the Bulbous Skunk Cabbages to help them achieve a more unique sound. Around this time, they were brought to the attention of Conflict by a couple from the Woolwich Polytechnic. Conflict took interest in Liberty, and this led to the two bands joining forces, becoming very close in the process.

Liberty was invited to appear in Conflict's early 1985 'We don't want your Fucking War!' compilation with their track 'Diluted Rebellion'. Several gigs were played with Conflict and other Mortarhate bands, and there were several times where both bands had to fight with weapons to defend themselves from Nazi skinheads and violent idiots. Liberty had a very strong political attitude, and they often questioned their own scene. Mark often said 'lyrics, then music', 'do you really care?', 'this is not enough, stand up and fucking fight!' and 'get out there, and show your anger!'

In April of 1985, Conflict let Liberty record their first single on their label Mortarhate at Alaska Studios. The band named their E.P. 'Our Voice is Tomorrow's Hope' and it featured their new second vocalist, Steve Flack. Several gigs followed to support the single.

In between gigs, the band took part in several events of direct action such as hunt sabotaging, wrecking butcher shops and marching in protests. However, they claimed there were too many 'idiots' in the scene, such as people who wore jackets with 'Meat Means Murder' painted in the back, and this was beginning cause disillusionment for the band.

After the single, bassist Graham Clench left and was replaced by Rob 'Gonk' Lovelock from The Unorthodox, who was also replaced by Paul Foster from The Spice of Life. However, he was replaced too by Ray Searle who managed to actually stay with the band. To make matters worse, their other founding member Derek Banks left too, but was replaced on drums by Oggy from State Hate just in time for a tour with Conflict in 1986.

After the tour, this version of Liberty returned to Alaska Studios to record their debut album 'The People who Care are Angry'. The album showed their very creative originality(an acoustic bit by local Dratford Socialist folk singer, Tony Chater, and a classical piano and vocals intro played by trained musician, 'Shemy') and proved to be Liberty's greatest work, but second vocalist Steve Flack left while it was still being worked on from disillusionment. By the time their debut album was released, the other members felt that Steve leaving Liberty was the final push, so they all decided to leave the band to focus more on direct action than music.

Liberty has reformed recently, and has already began gigging and releasing more material.

"As Fools Rush In"

Khaki shadows, poppies red.
Lambs to the slaughter
as another war is led.
Soldiers of destruction
maiming in the name of peace.
Play the game, there's no release
controlled by the fantasy
of protection and defense.
Accept the rules.
Accept the bomb.
Accept the lies,
and your all prepared to die.

Northern Ireland's a training ground
for government oppression.
Rubber bullets won't ever
hold back the aggression.
Combat the forces.
Take the troops out today.
The voice of freedom
will never fade away.
Do you remember the Falklands
with patriotic pride.
As it was only through
the leaders greed
that the soldiers die.
Wear the uniform, fly the flag
whilst the government sold weapons
to the opposing side.

You crossed the land
and you crossed the seas
to orphan the children of the Vietnamese.

You found your need
because of your greed
to destroy the Indians
peaceful creed.

Can the money collected
on each poppy day
bring out Hiroshima's
children to play?

With your political held views
you slaughtered the Jews.

Marching through time
your humanities crime.
If you march again
there will be no-one to cry
because you'll be playing
with oblivion's toy.

Oppose the troops today.

As countless soldiers die
in pointless wars
you can spare us your excuses
'cos we've heard them all before.

DON'T LET IT HAPPEN AGAIN!

"Our Voice is Tomorrow's Hope"

Lives cannot be saved by dreams.
Tears will not stop the pain.
Words cannot express feelings
when your hurt again and again.
Nothing will mellow our anger.
It lies too deep in our hearts.
We'll never forget the wounds
of our love abused by others
right from the start.
Our message was torn apart.
Shouting at you has not changed a thing.
A few people may listen
but a lot more turn away.
It's so easy to act out a part play
but a lot harder to mean what you say.
Our voice is tomorrows hope.

It's time to put our words into effect.
Don't turn away and accept.
Don't let them sever at the roots
of what we've built.

When we confront ourselves
that is when we are change.
When actions speak louder than words
that is when we create.

There is a future beyond
all this darkness.
If we share today
and stand by each others side
we will win and survive.
Shoulder to shoulder we will find
what we are searching for.

Once again we are the individuals
we were before, fighting our so called friends and enemies
who are mocking our ploy.

We are the voice of today.
We are the hope for the children of tomorrow.
Unite to work as one.
Don't drown yourself in sorrow.

"Suffer No More"

From the meat at the butchers,
to the bodies at Belsen slaughter is slaughter.
Whether animals or human, breakdown their
industries of death it's what creates their
obscene wealth they will never suppress our anger.
Fuck their profit, give us life.

Vivisection dissect humanity vivisectors dissect
life. Torturing is their evil trade.
Nail the bastards don't be afraid, the battle
begins across the countryside. Parasites on
horseback only out for a ride but any
sign of life their hounds tear it apart,
for a pride a sick bastard claims the blood
splattered heart.

We are gonna stop all forms of abuse, but
not by giving peace signs. We're gonna
use force, we won't stand back and
let it happen. It's gone on far too long.
We've got to stand together and prove
those murdering bastards wrong.

SMASH DOWN THOSE ANIMAL DEATH CAMPS!

"Wake Up"

Wale up to reality, stop dreaming.
Life's not a game.
Change is in our hands.
Open your eyes, face the truth.
Can't you realize, apathy is you.

Stop running, stop hiding.
You can't escape.
Wherever you run
the answer is clear.
You can't escape yourself.

Why have a voice.
if you don't break the silence.
It's only up to us
to create cracks in the system.
To raw the line.
Breakdown the barriers
between you and me
and the tables will turn.

We shout to be heard
but our voices are in the wilderness.
We've been shouting for far too long.
Come out from the wilderness.

So here we stand and what have we got?
The same as usual, not a lot.
But we still sit
and say what we can do.
The choice is not theirs
It's up to you.

It's us who have the say.
We have the real power.
Stand up against those bastards.
They can't lock you in the tower.
They finance death, exploit life,
but we still insist on being put down.
They could drop the bomb tomorrow,
and we would not make a fucking sound.

Peace means active organization.
Life means co-operation,
not social sedation.
Together we can build a future.
Tomorrow does not have to be
just another day.

We've been shouting
for far too long.
Come out from your hideout
and make a stand.

WAKE UP!

"Do you Care?"

We have become disillusioned of the past few years with people inside our own circle of moment. You cannot trust as far as you can throw them. It's the same old things on the world stage. Time goes on, but nothing seems to change.

How are we going to achieve change, accomplish in our lives, when we have set a battlefield amongst ourselves? We've had enough of two-faced bigots, hypocrites, who contradict every word they speak, and action they make. Traitors amongst us creating new divisions in the lack of support and cooperation of "so-called" friends. Unity and trust, I'm slowly disbelieving.

The message we scream at you, you're still not believing in. You might live in fantasies, we don't. You might be playing a game, were not. Do you really care? Unity? Reality or fantasy? Do you really care? Do you blindly accept every and anything that's given?

It seems we take one step forward, and two steps back up against the never ending barrier in the struggle for release. What are we doing? Where are we going? Surely by now, some progress should be showing. No more backbiting, no more backstabbing. Stop all forms of deceiving. We must face each other before we can fight the enemy.

We all ride the waves of the same boat, and this time around, if we don't unite and attack, we will sink, not float, sink, not float, sink, nor swim, lose or win. Win or lose?

The wall of oppression needs kicking. Persist and it will crumble. Doesn't it make sense? Isn't it what we all want? I state of MIND, not a state of CONTROL. A CARING society, where EVERYONE plays a leading role, where we're ALL leaders, LEADING ourselves. A society where it can ALL come down off the shelves.

Did you ever listen? Do you really care? Did you ever listen? Do you really care? How often must we say it? Will you ever listen? Do you really care? Did you ever listen? Do you really care?

Listen to the song a moment, but unless you act, you'll keep eating SHIT.

Naked

Naked came about around the beginning of 1979, from a jam session the members had in the hall at the back of a pub in Crown, Sheerness High Street, Kent. The four were Kevin Nash on bass, Paul Morgan on drums, Tony White on vocals and Chris Counsell on guitar. Part of their inspiration was this new idea that you didn't have to be good at playing your instrument or singing to start a band. The name Naked has no real deep meaing, but it was short and easy to remember for the band(they never played Naked by the way). Early practicing sessions took place in halls and even a church hall.

After three or four months of practicing, they played their gig at a bar called 'Hoppit' in Flushing, Holand on June 8, 1979. The gig was organized by their friend Ian, who worked on the Olau Line Channel Ferry and knew someone that worked at the bar. Later that month, they played their first gig in England at the Tam'o'Shanter in Chatham. The success of the two gigs inspired the band to record a demo around the end of the year. Over time they got their drummer Paul's brother to become their manager, and he bought a van and got the band to buy a P.A. so they could have a better chance to play at gigs, and to throw their own gigs so they could raise money for more recordings.

In 1980, they were joined by Alan Dann on rhythm guitar. They recorded a four track demo with him, but he left soon after. At one notable gig, Chris and Paul walked off stage because they had gotten frustrated from technical difficulties, but came back on stage after hearing that certain members of the audience would kill them if they didn't finish their set. The band often had to sleep or camp out in stranger's houses, in phone boxes, railway station benches and even freezing car parks at ferry terminals. After several more gigs, Kev and Paul decided that they were leaving because of their musical differences with the others and formed the band 'Shoot Straight'(Chris helped them out for a bit).

Chris and Tony wanted to keep going with Naked, so they somehow recruited Chris Midgely on bass and Kevin Arnold on drums. Together, they played their first big gig with the U.K. Subs at the Woodville Halls, Gravesend on October 20th, 1980. Micheal helped the band get that gig, and continued to help the band even though his brother had left, but eventually resigned  as manager. Fortunately, he let the band have his P.A.

In 1981, Naked recorded their ten song '1981' demo cassette. A copy was sent to Crass, and the song '1930's Prewar Germany' was added to the 'Bullshit Detector II' album. Several gigs followed in Holland, a gig supporting Conflict, and some more demos were also recorded. At this point, even people across the U.K. as far the United Stated of America as well as Australia had heard of Naked. A mini tour was followed in the U.K., including a gig with Anthrax(U.K. Anthrax) where nobody but the bands showed up because of bad advertisement. In 1983, Kevin left the band and was replaced by Carl Carrick on drums.

During 1983, the band developed a close relationship with the Subhumans and played several support gigs with them all over the country, which led to their first and last record titled 'One Step Forward Towards Reality', released in November of 1983 on Dick Lucas's Bluurg label. Several gigs followed, including one where their bassist was told he would be stabbed with a knife if they didn't play any faster. As time went by, the band become more and more political, but their vocalist Tony and drummer Carl left around 1987. Carl was replaced back by former drummer Kev, and vocalist Paula was recruited. They recorded their last three track demo and played their last gig in September that same year, before all the members felt that without Tony the band just wasn't the same, so all the members just stopped going to rehearsals and never returned.

(Guitarist Kev listed above has recently passed away due to a brain tumor)

"Frightened"

Drop the bomb, wot a masterful plan.
The ideas that your reckoning.
You see destruction is so bad.
It makes you scream, but you don't know
what's happening,

because you're frightened

Drop the bomb if you dare.
Dictatorship crap will get you nowhere.
The further down underground,
The furthermore hell bound.

Drop the bomb if you think
Hiroshima II will fill the link.
Don't understand, don't comprehend.
You do the wrong you cannot mend,

because you're frightened.

The Disrupters

The Disrupters were heavily influenced by the early punk bands such as The Clash, The Ramones, Generation X, The Lurkers, Johnny Moped, The Damned, and several others. Vocalist Bangkok Steve immediately wanted to start a band after becoming inspired by those bands and was eventually invited to rehearse with Gibbon who took up guitar, and Dave Howard on bass. Kevin Wymer was added on drums, after they stole a drum set from The Aborts. It was now late 1980 in Norwich, and the Disrupters were born.

Their early gigs were chaotic, and at one gig Steve had dog feces thrown all over him, but this didn't stop him from finishing their set. Afterwards, they went to a UK Subs gig, and the train they took back to Norwich got filled with punks, and in the end violence broke out and the train ended up trashed. When the train got to it's destination, the police had already arrived and took everyone in. Dave ratted out Steve, which led to him getting replaced by Tim Perkins who had never played a bass before in his life.

Around this time, The band recorded the song 'Napalm' in Kevin rooms, and it was sent to Crass which they included in the first Bullshit Detector album. Crass's 'Feeding of the Five Thousand' was noted as a really big influence on the band. During the Summer of 1981, The Disrupters entered Whitehouse Studio and recorded the 'Young Offender' single which was released on their own Radical Change Records label. Unfortunately, Gibbon left/was kicked out(every member has his own story) of the band and was replaced by a better guitarist named Paul Greener.

In 1982, the band entered Spaceward Studios in Cambridge to record their 'Shelters for the Rich' single. After the single, Tim decided to quit the band and the scene, and was replaced on bass by Steve Hough. Prem Nick was also recruited for their spoken word tracks/poetry. This became the classic Disrupters line-up that remained from 1983 until their split. The band then quickly entered Flying Pig Studios to begin work on their debut L.P.

Their 'Unrehearsed Wrongs' L.P. was released in 1983 and is considered the band's favorite album. All their 80's releases were released on their own label, and they also helped other bands release records such as Icon A.D., Self Abuse and Revulsion. The band noted that they had developed a close relationship and toured the most with Revulsion. The band continued to play several gigs, help bands, and they took part in several hunt sabotages and demonstrations, often appearing in court to defend themselves against arrest.

Another single titled 'Bomb Heaven' had been released in 1983, and another L.P. titled 'Playing with Fire' was released in 1984. However, the band felt that that material was lacking compared to their 'Unrehearsed Wrongs' L.P. Several gigs followed with bands such as Conflict, Subhumans, Chelsea and the Instigators. The band often had to hide behind supermarkets around five in the morning, and rob as much as they could by hand from their vegetable deliveries. Steve also went through several cases of bronchitis from their damp living conditions.

In 1985, The band recorded and released their 'Alive in the Electric Chair' 12" E.P from Raven Recording Studios(other tracks were recorded at the Flying Pig). Around the same year, a benefit L.P. was recorded for the Norwich Hunt Saboteurs titled 'Words Worth Shouting'. Soon enough, the disillusionment began to kick in as they saw all these 'punk rules' coming up and fanzine editors that seemed like interrogators to them. For example, one fanzine argued to them why only part of them were vegetarians. A couple of tracks were recorded in 1986, but the band began to slowly becoming inactive.

In 1988, the band began to reorganize, and made their 'Anarchy, Peace and Chips' D.V.D. which was filmed by Derek Williams. This would become the last thing the band would release. In late December of 1988, they played their last gig at the Jacquard in Norwich where their vocalist had just gotten a job there as a bartender. Afterwards, vocalist Steve felt that the band had run it's course and left the band, and hoped that the rest of the band would continue on without him, but all the other members agreed to his reason and decided to give in too which led to the demise of the Disrupters. Nick continued to write and perform poetry with Blyth Power, Kevin joined a punk/metal band named Saigon Kiss, Alex joined Paranoia and Steve joined a Ramones cover band. Recently, the band has reformed, played several gigs and even released a new album titled 'Generation Retard'.

I know I have seen lyrics for this band somewhere before, but I cannot remember where I saw them. Unfortunately, I have none at the moment, but if you do post them in the comments!

The Off Topic Post

They prefer not to be talked about but I am going to break that rule for my own personal reasons(I wont go into much detail about them). The punk movement was anti-mainstream, but these people took it up to a completely different level. They were all Satanists, and claimed to have no fear in death. They believed in darkness, not love, life, happiness and humanity. The world had taught them that it is a cruel, false, deceptive place, and that only pain and suffering can come from it.

They hated humanity so much that they moved into the nearby forests and actually lived their for a couple of months, until the harsh conditions forced them back. They aimed to be hated, dreaded and thought of as ugly by the common individual. Their mission was to help start the Black Holocaust, where mainstream humanity that didn't follow their ideas would be taken into slow torture and completely killed off. This circle of people believed they were 'demons' of some sort. Their 'art' was their music which they took very seriously, and their lyrics showed just how much they hated the 'worms'(humans), so any 'metal-head worm' who thought their music was 'cool' was looked at as in idiot by them.

By 1995, they had already believed that Black Metal was dead(they were rumored to have been either a response or inspired by the Norwegian 'Black Metal Inner Circle'. They were not part of it). Upon being asked about the Black Metal scene, they replied that it had become mainstream and has now only become worried about money and photogenic appearances. It wasn't just music in their personal view, but a perpetual hatred. This circle of individuals were noted for only making very few copies of their releases and demos(rumored to had been around five or six of each), and only giving them to close friends whom they trusted would keep their music in the darkness. Entirely an underground group, hardly anyone has heard of them or knows who these bands are, and even less is known about their history and what became of them(surprisingly enough, these bands are hardly known in the mainstream metal scenes).

In their eyes, suicide is regarded as the mightiest, most noble act. Death will make God and everyone else equal, for it is the ultimate point for all humanity to them. Sex is an undeniable sphere of Satanism, who's limits should be broken and looked more into. Hell is humanities destiny, and place of eternal reign. Finally, murder is their most beautiful way to deny life which is by destroying it. They dreamed of a world ruled by Satan, doomed in chaos.

Their songs reflected on their feelings of hatred, sadness and isolation, such as one member who would imagine committing a murder while he wrote music. All together, the circle remained amazingly under nine people. However, five of them wrote the bulk of the material, and the rest were declared 'betrayers' due to unknown events. They mixed and matched everyone to form several solo projects and bands which led to slightly over 40 bands made within those very few individuals.

Their music is defined as Black Metal and some of it was noted for being heavily influenced by early Bathory. Some bands were ambient projects and some consisted of twisted screams and chants(sometimes in a language that they themselves created) either by themselves or accompanied by slow disturbing sounds of perverse music. Some of the bands played either fast melodic Black Metal, heavy dark sounding Black Metal or even slow, atmospheric songs that brought emptiness and isolation to the listeners mind. Some bands are so weird that I can't even begin to describe what they sound like. Nonetheless, These bands became breakthroughs through the Black Metal genre and proved to be epic works of hateful art.

Their music was to remain in the darkness and never to come up into the light of the mainstream. However, betrayers made bootlegs of their demos and sold them, and this is how word of these bands got out. An endless amount of rumors were made, and in the end, the members of these bands disappeared and were never heard from again, except for one ex-member who is still active today(after faking his death for years) in a one man band project, but he refuses to answer any questions about his time in the circle he was once a part of. Now dozens of rumors are circulating the internet about them, and the bootlegs continue to be copied and sold. Unfortunately, no one will ever know the truth. They will remain as a mysterious part of Black Metal history.

I will do the members a favor and give no names out to anything giving out who they were and I am also disabling the comments for this post specifically. I don't agree with anything they say. This is just a simple off topic post. Nothing more. If you do somehow read this whole post, just disregard it.

Sleeping Dogs

Sleeping Dogs were an unusual band that surfaced on Crass Records with their single 'Beware' in 1982. Their music was very experimental, their lyrics were along the same lines as Crass, and they were the first of two American bands(they were based in San Francisco/New York) that had their singles released on Crass Records. The line up was leader Sue 'Bad Boy' Bachemin(a woman) on bass and vocals, Dirty Dog on drums and vocals and Helen Harmon on guitar, and they also featured John Simmons on guitar, The Great Jeff on electric violin and Jeff Mattson on guitar over time.

The band member named 'Dirty Dog' was responsible for designing the infamous Crass logo that was used on all the covers for all the other bands featured on Crass Records. They also managed to play at the Infamous Zig Zag squat gig, going on between Lack of Knowledge and The Apostles.

In 1982, the band recorded their debut single 'Beware' with help of additional drums from Penny Rimbaud and additional guitar by Phil Free from Crass. The band disappeared after the Zig Zag gig, and eventually changed their name to Brain Rust in 1986. The line-up for Brain Rust was Bad Boy and Dr. Mabuse on vocals, Pablo Wrytetwoski Pickles on bass and Dirty Dog on drums. The last known bits of material I have found by them is from 1988, which was recorded in Berkeley, California. It is unclear as to what happened to the band after that point.

"Same Old Story"

From generation to generation it continues.
Passing on the fear and the guilt.
Handing down
the lust for power
and the lack of vision that results.

From father to son,
the prejudice lives on.
Teaching the good old way.
How to exploit, to profit, to gain.
Let no one else have their say.

And some rebel,
but most agree.
As father would say:
"What's in it for me?"
So the boy takes the gun,
like a dutiful son.
The world's not yet destroyed.
Can he get the job done?
Can he get the job...
Can he get the job
DONE?!

"Concrete"

Concrete walls are spreading.
You see them more and more.
Soon we will be so cut off,
we won't know what life is for.

Some are shocked in mental homes,
or locked behind prison walls.

The rest of us get office blocks,
highways and shopping malls.

Those shopping centres are advancing,
covering the hills.
This one has twenty restaurants.
To glut away our ills.

Back at the institutions
that wait beyond these walls.
Guards live in houses in a row,
and they're behind the fences too.

Radio waves don't like concrete
if your driving in a car.
you're trying to get a message through.
You have the radio on.
Your driving under an overpass
and the music's power is gone.

"Suzy's Song"

What a lovely day.
I love your clothes.
I love your makeup.
I love your shoes.

I love your microwave oven.
I love your eye-level grill.
I love your butcher cook.
I love your garbage compactor.

I love your weekend house.
I love your living space.
I love your media wall.
I love your beta-max.
I love your conversation pit.
I love your Track lighting.
I love your high-tech taste.
I love your Doberman attack dogs.

I love their silver collars.
I love your sex encyclopedia.
I love your mirrored ceiling.
I love your black satin sheets.
I love your chromium handcuffs.
I love your therapist.
You seem to have such a perfect relationship.
I love your friends.
I love you.
You love me.
We all love each other.
We all love each other.

"(I got my Tan in) El Salvador"

In San Salvador,
and Guatemala City,
joggers run through rich neighborhoods each mornings.

Young couples dance at disco in the evening.

Soccer fans jam stadiums
for weekends.

Death squads in the street.
They do what they want.
Each morning the women go out.
They try to wake the dead.
The bodies are difficult to recognize.

Lists composed by army collaborators.
The military is suffering from paranoia.
anyone not in uniform is suspect.

They rape.
They torture,
and then they kill.

Unspeakable violence.
Unimaginable suffering.
Too many bodies.
Too little land.
Decades of oppression
by military governments.
Supported by America.

"Soldier"

I sit crouching,
cleaning my gun,
cleaning my equipment,
filling my canteen,
making up by bedroll,
for I must be ready to move
at 2 A.M.

I draw out my 14 inch bayonet,
test its edge,
find it sharp enough.
Before battle, I can see myself blasted to mangles by a bomb.
Or blinded by rock fragments.
Or pounded crazy by artillery.
Or gelded by mortar shrapnel.
Or pierced by bayonet-
pierced through the belly, wriggling helplessly.
Pierced through the throat-
pierced through the groin and anus.
Pierced and pierced again.
Pierced through the chest hearing the bone grate.
Pierced through the temple, feeling the bone crumple.
Pierced through the back and nailed.
Pierced through the spine and paralyzed.
Pierced through the lips and tongue, biting on steel,
or buried alive under crumpled roof.
Or skewered by tracer bullets.
Or torn apart by grenades.
Or killed,
MAIMED,
BROKEN,
CRUSHED,
WIPED OUT.
